Corn Gluten is a natural pre-emergent herbicide made exclusively of processed corn during the wet milling process. When used as directed, corn gluten inhibits the tiny feeder roots of spouting weeds. People and animals can use turf immediately after application. Corn Gluten is effective against these and other common garden and lawn weeds as a pre-emergent herbicide: Annual Bluegrass, Barnyardgrass, Black Medic, Black Nightshade, Buckthorn, Catchweed Bedstraw, Curly Dock, Crabgrass, Creeping Bentgrass, Dandelions, Giant Foxtail, Green Foxtail, Lambsquarter, Orchardgrass, Purslane, Redroot Pigweed, Shattercane, Velvetleaf and Wooly Cupgrass.

For spring lawn applications apply at 20 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. Timing is critical; product must be applied before the weed seed germinates (usually when forsythia begins to bloom.) For fall lawn applications apply 20 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. from approximately August 15th through September 30th to help control weed seeds. After each application water turf thoroughly then allow to dry completely. For vegetables, flowers, and shrubs apply 2 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. Mix into the top 2-3 inches of soil. Repeat 2-4 times throughout the growing season, or as needed. For controlling weeds around or near plants grown from seed, wait until the seed is well established to apply corn gluten. Corn Gluten can remain active in soil for 3 to 6 weeks.
