About Kyle Johnson

Kyle Johnson is the owner and founder of EverWild Greenspaces. Stemming from his childhood love of the outdoors, Kyle was drawn to a career in horticulture at an early age. While growing up in rural eastern Nebraska, his first job was working for his aunt and uncle who raised pheasants and other gamebirds. Outside of work and school, much of Kyle’s free time was spent fishing, camping, hiking, and enjoying nature. Also, participation in 4-H in high school guided him further down the path toward a career outdoors.

Kyle Johnson obtained his horticulture degree from Metropolitan Community College and has worked in the landscape industry for the last two decades. Due to his efforts and pursuits over the years have gained him many credentials, such as, being a Nebraska Certified Nursery Professional and an International Society of Arboriculture certified arborist. He has also Kyle Johnson Head Shotreceived various awards and recognitions, including Earth Day Omaha’s Friend of the Environment and Nebraska Forest Service’s Volunteer Awards. In addition, Kyle has been featured several times in the Omaha World Herald and other local publications.

Joslyn Art Museum

For 7 years, Kyle was the sole caretaker of Joslyn Art Museum’s gardens. Under his care, the Gardens’ beauty, efficiency, and environmental-friendliness were improved. This was achieved through the addition of thousands of native plants, construction of rain gardens, and implementation of an organic lawn and landscape management program. As a result, Joslyn Art Museum was recognized as 2017’s Affiliate Site of Excellence by the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum.

EverWild Greenspaces

In 2017, EverWild Greenspaces was born. This endeavor was driven by Kyle’s desire to create and maintain landscapes that are beautiful, sustainable, and environmentally beneficial. By observing and mimicking nature, he strongly believes that urban landscapes can provide valuable habitat to struggling native wildlife. In addition, these landscapes can be low-maintenance, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. Those convictions are the focus and driving force behind EverWild Greenspaces.
